Panasonic G3 & 14-42mm kit lenses test at Bukit Panjang

Brought my new G3 out today to take some street shooting, doing some quick point and shoot therapy near my house.

Very minor auto-tuning done on the Lightroom.

I take the following photo at the overhead bridge at Bangkit,  i didn't expect the color turn out to be so nice  and provide enough depth of field for the main subject, lantern.

(f/3.5, 1/13sec, ISO-800, 28mm equiv.)

Macro shooting on decoration light.

(f/3.5, 1/30sec, ISO-1250, 28mm equiv.)

I took the photo below at around 715pm, i set the ISO to 1250, the actual environment is dimmer than we can see from the photo, the excellent G3 sensor help me to "brighten" up the scene and "capture" more.

(f/4.1, 1/13sec, ISO-1250, 38mm equiv.)

Another Christmas Tree at Bukit Panjang Plaza.

(f/4, 1/40sec, ISO-800, 34mm equiv.)

Hi Dreamie, I am looking for a MFT to play with and trying to get into photography, i am interested in the G3 very much, until i came accross the Oly OM-D E-M5 unti on preview.. was wondering if you could let me know of your own experience on the G3, the feel of the camera as a whole photographing experience.

Hi Ian,i was using Lumix G1 previously before i started G3 recently. the G3 is obviously smaller than G1. the focusing speed is very fast, i do not encounter any problem for the focusing speed. one of the problem that i hate most is the manual switch between the EVF and LCD, it make less convenient when i want to use EVF for the framing. Another strength of the G3 is obviously the weight, because of the light weight, i can bring it anywhere even when i m working and do not add too much burden to me (G3: 382g, E-M5: 425g, both with sd card and battery). i strongly suggest u to bring additional battery with you as the G3 battery life performance really suck.

i think E-M5 is a good camera, i'm tempted by this camera features (splash proof, in body image stabilizer, good color straight from camera of course, in-camera editting ...) as well, but the price is not cheap (USD1,299 for body and lenses). For G3, the second hand price is drop to around SGD730 with kit lenses (www.clubsnap.com), i think for budget minded user, G3 is a gd choice also.
